Glorious Weekend

This weekend was such a good weekend.  We didn't really do much at all, but that's perfectly ok with me.  The weekend kind of got started early, because not only did I attend my work's company picnic, where Joel made a guest appearance, but we also had Joel's promotion selection party to go to.  Now, as proud as I am, I don't understand the need for this and also a promotion party when he actually pins on the rank.  Mostly because we are forced to pay for both.  Oh, well.  Congrats to him anyways.

Saturday left us wide open.  We went to the local Family Video, where they were having a crazy sale.  We rented five movies for just over $4.  And it may just be a nostalgia thing, but I love going to the video store.  We used to do it nearly every weekend as a family growing up.  All of the movies have been pretty good so far.  We have one left (Ted), but the first four at least were really entertaining.

It was also a weekend of food.  As you may or may not know (and how could you not?), St. Louis has BBQ restaurants a plenty.  I know I have done reviews and spoken about some of  my favorites, but my absolute favorite restaurant in the area has to be PM BBQ.  It's located in Chesterfield, MO, which is a bit of a drive from where we are at, but I must say that sometimes...the drive is just worth it.  It's the only BBQ place that I have found so far with spoon bread (a Southern favorite of mine), and has the best homemade applesauce in the area.  If you have the chance to eat here, don't pass it up.  You can thank me later.

And what's a weekend without grilling out?  We had some crazy weather this weekend, to include tornado watches and warnings, severe thunderstorms, and flooding.  When we weren't picking up tree branches or drying out our partially flooded basement, we were grilling.  Oh, and making homemade strawberry angel food cakes.

You don't have to have a promotion party, it's just something that most people do.

$4? What? That's amazing! Those food pictures are making my stomach rumble. I'm surprised I'm not drooling all over the keyboard right now.

What a great weekend! I'm hoping that this weekend will be a slow, relaxing on for me. I haven't had one of those in a while!
